Why is our name Myrtle?

Myrtle is short for Myrtlewood and is also known as the California Bay Laurel, Pepperwood, Oregon Myrtle, or Oregon Myrtlewood. It is a multi-trunked broadleaf hardwood evergreen tree that can live for several hundred years, regenerating itself from its roots if the trunk and branches are damaged.

Myrtle exemplifies the Masonic tenants of strength and resilience. Two qualities that are foundational to taking care of those around us, having a positive influence on our community and doing good work on behalf of the Supreme Architect*. To put it simply "Do good unto all."

*Since Freemasonry is not a religion people of all faiths join. The term "Supreme Architect" is our way of respectfully referring to the Supreme Deity of any faith.
